are you all saying the 9 kelford 272 cams are a waste? and will provide no gains over stock for 9 owners? I just bought some because i got a good price. I'll install it to get gains and see how it is. I'm not really trying to get cams again already

No one said that they won't make power over the stock IX cams. You will make power over the stock IX cams for sure. You just won't make what the S2s do...

btw, where do you live in VA? That is where I am from before I joined the Navy.

currently in springfield, used to work near dulles and wanted to go to DTM for work then all the garbage ensued with them and they closed down. I'll go to UCS for my installs. Perhaps later I'll get s2's if the kelfords don't do an adequate job. do u ever visit va since u joined the navy?

Now Im confused...so on the GSC site, he's selling the old version?

From the site:The S2 cams are designed for those with more power in mind or a larger turbo. No low end power is lost vs the stock cams when used with the larger turbos. The S2 cams will show gains of 50-70whp over the stock cams and in some cases more in the higher RPMS. Great for 2.0L engines revving to 9000rpms or for Stroker motors revving to 8000rpms. The S2 Cams are suggest to run on our upgraded Beehive valve spring replacement or can be run at the stock revlimit and factory boost on the stock spring. Designed for a rev range of 4000-9000 RPMS(2.0L or 3000-8000 2.2L+), 400-700whp applications. S2 cams can run on Factory ECU with custom flashing.

S2 Specs .

6008S2 ADV Duration Duration @ 1mm Peak Lift CenterLine
Intake 274 230 11.20mm 107
Exhaust 274 230 11.00mm 113

Details

SKU GSC-6008S2
Weight 10.00 lbs
Price: $499.00 (€ 434.13)

Thanks. You beat me to it. I was laughing at the fact that there are still 272s rolling around for sale and ending up typing 272 instead of 274.

Why is this thread still going? It's very simple. GSC S2's>everything else. The v2 S2 274/274 cams are awesome for the 8 and 9. I would run nothing else for either platform. I attribute my S2 cams to one of the biggest reasons i can make as much power as i'm making at relatively low boost pressures on my FP Black with everything un-ported and with stock i/c piping. There are a lot of other factors involved in my setup(i.e. 3.5in TBE, my tuning...etc), but the cams S2's really bring my setup alive. Of course, my engine is a VIII, but the same holds true for the MIVEC S2's as well.

If i ever have the need for even higher lift/longer duration cams for my setup, i will be going with the S3's.

End of story.......

Dude...Maybe because some of us had some basic questions... and didnt want to start a new thread, since this is about GSC and Kelfords...
Not everyone is on the same level with cam knowledge...and want to learn and spend hard earned money wisely!

Not on the stock motor you wont! clank clank boom. You would have to build your block so the valves don't hit the pistons.

Well, most of what you needed to see/learn came in the first 2 pages of this thread. I'm just saying, we're beating a dead horse. This subject has been talked about over and over again on this forum......There are far too many GSC S2 vs. Kelford 272 threads out there. Since GSC's revision of the S2 cams, the S2's have been the clear winner. Until something else changes, this will remain true. Re-visit this question when something actually does change. That's all I'm saying. I was just summing it all up, for those that still didn't understand who made the better cam. No need to get all huffy. lol.

Didnt get huffy... I winked at you at the end... means I like you

This is the only active thread that has the most knowledge on the cams ... plus greg made his presence here :bow down:

If it werent for this thread I would have bought a S2 old version cam set for the same price as the new ones from a vendor... plus not because Bill, Bob and Jack says its the best hands down....makes it the best!
this thread gives you some feedback , examples etc...
