Anything that is above 268* and 11mm lift is going to need springs regardless of where you keep the rev limit. The 272 kelfords and the GSC S2s really need valvesprings to keep it safe.

To get the full potential of the cam you will need to run an upgraded spring such as our beehive spring sets. if you are totally against running springs keep the boost below 20psi and the rev limit at stock and you shouldn't have an issue with floating valves.

Would you see a big gain from getting the S2's on a stock evo IX turbo? I ported the mani and the turbo but other than that its stock.

Imho wouldn't it be worth it to just get the springs and retainers while everything is apart? I guess if you don't have money for them but I am just a paranoid sort and would much rather get it done for safety.

Okay let me rephrase... I saw a shop advetising GSC s2's for sale for the mitsubishi Evo VIII... the lobes were all dark grey...then I looked on the GSC site the lobes were shiny

Is it just the lighting where the pic was taken???

I just want to know before i start spending and get the wrong stuff

I had to start looking other places off EvoM, since vendors on this site do not reply when I ask for price quotes...they bump the thread saying pm replied to...but never send anything and I asked TWICE!
So why do they advertise they carry them...just venting

Obviously if I buy direct from you it will be right !

Haha it is so back and forth in here. I see it go from GSC to Kelford's. Its a hard choice to make. I mean the cam test was old and I hear that GSC has revised them to be better than Kelford now. Ugh time for a new test!!

thats a generic pic. the lobes should have a somewhat smooth machined finish.
