im sure this has been asked like 46534 times but i honestly just couldnt find it

hey guys. i have a 06 evo MR and i have been locked out of ever gear.it started off with individual gears around 7k and now they are all shot. stock clutch feels fine but when i try to go into any gear even reverse the trans wont let me in.(transmission is SHOT ) the car has 9k on it . the car is bone stock but was tuned by sean ivey..the tune has been taken off and the stock one is on their now. my question is if i trailer / tow it to a mitsu dealer (ill travel a lil bit ) can they see that Sean Ivey was there / can they claim abuse or tell me to STFU and GTFO? the car is in mint condition and does not look molested at all. for gods sake the thing hasnt even hit 10k yet

sounds like premature clutch failure. but a biddy of mine had some problems with his tranny and it was locking him out of gears 6 and reverse i thought. it was warranty work and he had some mods on it too they replaced the whole tranny. his car had 10K or morre on the clock.

take it to the dealer (if you trust them i have heard alot of dealers are shady no-a-days)

IF the failure happened all of a sudden and you couldn't get into any gears, then I would say either shift linkages or clutch problem. If it has developed over time to where you started off not being able to shift into one gear then the problem grew worse, I would guess internal transmission issue. Drain the fluid and see how it looks, if it looks alright, inspect the shift linkage cables and also take a look in the inspection hole to see if you can see a big problem with the clutch. If all else fails, pull the transmission and see if the clutch is still looking alright, and if it is, send it into shep for some treatment.

I had a similar problem to yours where my second gear and reverse gear slowly but surely stopped engaging. I took my transmission apart and found out I chewed up second gear along with its synchros/synchronizer spring and reverse gear along with synchro/synchronizer spring. I also screwed up fifth. I ordered my parts from Jacks Transmissions and rebuilt the tranny myself.

If you want a replacement 5spd your best bet would really be to get a brand new Shep Stage 1 for $2850 (at the bottom of the page from that link) Its a brand new trans with the street/strip build so its all new stuff and ready for some power if you ever wanted.

A brand new stock Evo 5spd from lancershop.com for example, is $2999. So the new, modified Shep trans is a no-brainer.
