forge wga too much boost.....

ok so im just trying to get ready for my tune in a week and im having a problem. i installed the forge 25psi wga and now my car is running 30+ psi. i have it running solely off the wga now and i only plan on running a max of 30 psi but prob 28 daily. i do NOT have it preloaded to death. it is set perfectly to where i am not leaking exhaust through my dump at idle.(literally i can take the turnbuckle back 1 full turn and it will leak at idle) so whats the problem? the shaft had turned in the wga when i was adjusting the turnbuckle could this be it?

Where are you referencing your boost from? Any T-'s in the line? How long is the line?

no t's anywhere at all. straight from the nipple on the black turbo elbow. and maybe a foot long. i didnt have this problem before on the stock dv. just installed my tial and now im having this trouble. the wastegate literally cant be preloaded any less or it leaks at idle.

You have to pay close attention to the boost reading in different gears. I taller gears your boost will likely go over the 25psi set by the Forged Actuator.

Either way, I always calibrate my waste gate actuators with a precise air compressor and a presssure gauge. I am running a FP 25PSI and I am were I want to be.

I guess that I am slightly confused. I know that FP offers either an 18#, or a 25 PSI actuator. However, I thought that Forge had either an VIII, or a IX actuator. Although I know that Forge offers various colors of springs which correspond to differing stifness rates of the internal spring. A red spring for example being the stiffest,

Set, or test boost on a flat stretch of road in 5th on a 5-spd. If, however, you can't do a 5th gear pull on a flat stretch of public road, then try setting it on an uphill grade in 4th gear.

You will be all over the place if you try setting peak boost in 1st-3rd on the road. If you do try setting it in 1-3, then you will always be overshooting once you shift into top gear.

Yours is an '03 Evo, so does your car still have the 9.8 turbine housing, or have you upgraded to the 10.5 turbine housing?

You need to go back and retrace your steps. Get your Evo back to the way it was BEFORE you installed the new WGA.

First of all, remove the FP piece and reinstall your stock WGA. Install the hole on the flat end of the WGA to where it freely slides on and off of the flapper valve's peg w/o pulling on the rod.

Now, rotate the end of the actuator rod inward(clockwise)a full 3 & 1/2 turns. This should get you up to around 19 PSI of spring pressure. If you want a more responsive turbo then rotate in another full turn. This should get you up to about 20-21 PSI of spring pressure. Now, take your boost up the remaining 2-3 PSI to 25# by using your MBC, or whatever device.

BTW, you did not have it set perfectly.

not rying to be a smart as your the only person aemping to help me but i know how to set the preload on a wga. and no im running a white on my 8. your correct they dont haver a 25psi actuator i was told wrong by who i bought it from but i have the red spring which should start to open a 18 and fully at 24psi. just got a rebuild kit from mike at forge and sill no luck. im running off strictly the wastegate. took it out again today and (in 4h gear) wen way above 30psi. this is horrible. if anyone is remoely close to ohio and has any kind of wga for a 9 pm me and ill come buy it as long as it works.

on a side note. i was running a 1st gen bov and now a tial 50mm(about o ge tuned on sd) and i figured out this problem while trying to get my car all up and ready for the tune. THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM BEFORE THE TIAL. which all tha could mean is the 1s gen was just leaking that bad. any help would be appreciated.
