high hp guys... O ring head or the block??
I kid you not. I'm also getting the L19's and a new head gasket when I start pushing ~40PSI or more. I may not need these things but I'll be the one laughing when your blow your motor (I won't really be laughing, just a figure of speech). I figured it to be cheap insurance to o-ring the block too.

I'd say it depends on who is building your motor and who is tuning it.
Its a nice safety net in case you find yourself with some unforeseen knock at high HP. Buschur also uses regular ARP's on his O-ringed heads IIRC.

I O-ringed my head at the last minute, just to be safe. If I had to do it again, I'd O-ring the block instead. Having to resurface the head after it's been O-ringed may be a problem in the future, who knows.
All you guys are taking what JohnBradley said as a reason not to get your block o-ringed. But what you didn't hear was JB said they only _recently_ figured out ways to deck and surface the head and block so they don't need to. So unless you are getting your block and head prepared by ER, I wouldn't consider his advice as saying you don't need o-rings.
