high hp guys... O ring head or the block??
im doing all the machine work to start putting my engine back together. im just trying to see what the guys that are making bug number are doing. should i O ring the head or the block? ill be making around 750 when the build is finished
IMO dont do the head as this cant be skimmed if needed later on.

We havent seen a need after learning some new tricks of head and block prep. We run 8s on non O-ringed blocks. I am making 708whp currently with a good headgasket (Power Enterprise in this case) and L19s torqued down to 91 ft lbs.
if your there at the machining process why not oring them, this will always help you with high boost apps if you decide to turn the wick up later on for a super high boost joy ride or track day, this assuming you had the turbo to support

I dunno the way i see it, its like going to the gym and having all these skinny guys give you advice on how to get big. If the big guys says theres no need, then i would be lead to believe there is no need.
Just sayin

yea They are. You forget whos built head i have and where it came from
. I asked him when we sent it to machine shop for cleaning etc and mike said No just as quickly as i could type. Head is beyond proven and ran consistant 9s at 735whp. NOT o ringed. Soo i say not needed.
LoL this question is almost as bad as the famous do you have to have oil squirters or not

Yes the BR heads i've seen had the heads o-ringed w/ SS
I run an o-ringed block w/ copper.
I'm sure you can trust both the ER guys and AWD as they know their stuff...........my motor was put together back in '07 and to be on the safe side i decided to o-ring it and it's held up pretty well.
Seen 45+ psi of boost (on accident) and i have never had the head off the shortblock since it was put together.
I'm by no means a motor building expert just wanted some extra saftey at that point and also went with the L19's ...........probably way overkill but it's strong!
