turbo fitment questions

I need to know if an evo 16g turbo will fit on a 2nd Gen dsm. Stock manifold and downpipe. Will it just bolt right up or does it have to be an eclipse 16g?

The manifold will bolt to a DSM head, but everything else is not a direct bolt-on. The EVO 4-9 turbo faces the driver's side of the engine bay, so you'd have to relocate your power steering and alternator to make room, and the compressor housing hits the block so you'd need a 1"+ spacer from the head to the manifold. It has been done, but far from worth it when you can drop on an EVO3 16g and make the same power.

It would fit with MAJOR modification. In the end its not worth it and not practical.

Its cheaper to get a evo3 16g and put it on a 2nd gen.

You can search online. Usually they got for around $550 new, but you can get a knockoff on ebay for around $200.

My buddy with a 1g talon put one of those ebay evo3 big 16g that i installed for him, and its still boosting strong after 30,000 miles. No issues whatsoever.

A lot of the Subaru guys run those Chinese Evo3 GT turbos. They seem to do ok.
