car overheats under boost...

hey guys so my tuner emailed me back and said that the car wasn't knocking, but under boost it was getting very hot and when he tried to add more boost it would get hotter....i know i have a thread right now about knock and i do still get the flashing check engine light but can that also be from the engine overheating?

Sounds like the timing is too aggressive or the head gasket....also be sure the fan is kicking on

i will make sure the fan is kicking in but i will have to bring it to my tuner for the timing issue....my car never overheats though even when i punch it...my gauge is always perfect.....im just so confused here and i hate when my car has issues

also there is no oil in my coolant and i just changed the oil today and it wasn't milky at all...the idle is fine and the car is running perfect, but it can't take any more boost and when i punch it the SES light flashes

Sounds like the tuner has the maps messed up then, do you have a wideband to tell us what the AFR is at under WOT?

make sure the fans are working, and def get the base map in the car again and see if it will overheat.

the stock temp gauge wont move from about 80 degrees C to about 115degrees C, so it might have been "overheating" when you were normally driving it anyways.

I agree with this guy , I would suggest and recommend that you get a wideband and a boost gauge( if you don't already have it) ; those two items alone have helped me greatly . I'm sure ur frustrated right now , but stick in there and once the car runs fine again you'll be even more satisfied with it

Keep checking your coolant level. Mine also has a sweet smell, that's because it's burning coolant. I've got a new head gasket ordered for myself as well. Mine only leaks under boost, which is usually the only time I can smell the burning coolant.

Your headgasket is probably blown.. If the exhaust smells sweet you can be sure of it.. keep an eye on coolant and ill guarantee it is dropping..

thanks for the help guys...so i have been reading a little about how to replace it...i need to basically do my camshaft install but take all of the headstuds right out. then take the exhaust manifold off and slide the whole head right up?

this really sucks...if i had the money i would let a professional do it but im broke and just spent the money on a tune to have them tell me they couldnt make any more power and the head gasket might be blown!

If no headstuds, you mind as well install them while you are there!
