EVOLUTION VI RS2 @ Mellon Tuning Project
Hey guys , i wanted to share another evo 6 project we have on our hands , this Evo 6 belongs to one of our customers this is an evo 6 rs2 , Mitsubishi didnt make much of these .
We have everything set up on it , fp red , 2.3 stroker , 272kelfordcams, all the ported goodies , we at Mellon Tuning did the ecu swap to an evo 8 ecu , pump and c16 tune , rollcage etc...
The client gives us a call and tells us he wants to go bigger , after he tells us he wants a highway silver rocket , we knew what he was looking for so we got him an Buschur HTAgt35R turbo kit , double pumper , and some other tweaks ..
to get him at the power level he wants .
Ill update the thread as we go along this high hp high torque project guys ,

Gary and I spoke at length regarding the right 35R for this particular customer and have chosen the HTA35R .63, this will improve spoolup over the standard .82 and make it more enjoyable for a pump gas daily driver and still have loads of power on race gas if needed.
The details of this kit can be seen at our store here: http://www.mellontuning.com/index.ph...roducts_id=227

Just for argument's sake...why that particular turbo choice? I can see a .63, HTA 3582 on a built 2-Liter, but on a 2.3L. displacement motor I'd think that the small housing would prove to be somewhat restrictive. The customer wants a highway bullet. So, why not go with an HTA TS 3586 on that stroker? This would give him tons better highway pull, which is what he is after anyway.
If he is going to run a 3582 with the restrictive .63 turbine housing, I don't see him making significantly more power than he would by sending his FP Red in for the Black upgrade. The Black should spool better than the 3582/.63 and the power difference just won't be that great. I'd do a 3586 anyday over a 3582 on a stroker, especially if I was looking for a highway bullet. Otherwise I'd just save my cash and send my Red in for a Black upgrade.
