clutch master cylinder?

today i was driving my car and the pedal became real soft and wouldnt dissengage while i almost drove thru my garage!?

but i have a quartermasters twin disk with a pedal stop and a hydraulic tob. with low miles on it. im lookin towards my master cylinder i seem to bleed it fine. and then every 10 times i bleed it out i seems to get soft. i finally got the pedal decently hard and then kept my foot on the pedal at the same pressure and the pedal slowly sunk to the floor!

can anyone direct me i think its a master cylinder. i jus want some input before i order this part. i heard that some evo 8's have problems with the master when using a stronger clutch. had a 4 puck in it for 20k miles and just installed the twin for 10k miles.

Check the lines too. Sounds like a leak.

the lines are fine no leak present. engine bay is completely dry. followed the lines to the master to the hydraulic tob. looked in the case didnt see any fluid from the hydraulic tob.

im having sort of the same problem, my pedal is getting softer, i belive the clutch is going in mine. yours seems like a combination of problems. did you check the slave cylinder? I heard those bolts tend to come loose.

I think he said he had the push style hydraulic TOB. If, with constant pressure, the pedal sinks to the floor and there is no fluid evident on the line anywhere and the TOB is dry and the clutch is dry I would lean towards watching the fluid in the Master Cylinder. If, while the pedal is sinking the fluid level comes UP slightly, then the master is bad and the fluid is coming back out past the piston seals back into the reservoir. Takes two people to check that though. Let me know if I can help in anyway.

Its the clutch master. About $140 from the dealer and I can get you the part number if you need it as I just replaced mine. Not too hard to do, hardest part is that damn banjo bolt. Last time I was at the track we kept loosing the pedal from 2nd - 3rd. Changed out the CM and the pedal is firmer and feels better than ever.

PM me if you need any more info as I dont remember to look through threads very often. But what you are describing sounds exactly like what mine was doing. Im on a Tilton Carbon/Carbon so I also have the hydraulic TOB.
