Service life of a Walbro pump?

Just curious about this. Have had my present Walbro on the car for over 5 years now. Am going to be updating my car here in the next few months and get a new tune. Is this something I don't need to worry about, or is it good insurance to just swap in a new pump since it's relatively cheap to do? THanks.

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as you have a WB O2 sensor and generally keep an eye on it you should be okay. I have heard them lasting longer than 5 years. Failures seem to be pretty random. Just listen for any increase in whining and keep an eye on the AFR's. Don't worry.

they are cheap to replace and after 5 years its cheap insurance i never had back seats in any of my cars so they were always loud and when they would start to get quiet after a few years i would just swap them i am not sure how fast there performance degrade but everythings has a service life.

How would I tell an "increase in whining" from a Whinebro?" LOL

Just kidding. Although it can get pretty loud at times.

My Innovate is shot. Thinking of adding a Zeitronix to the mix.

You can definitely tell when they get louder, like on hot days or whenever you are really running the car hard. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying don't replace it, I just think you will be fine for the time being. If you are not running a wideband then I would replace it just for peace of mind. If you are running a working wideband, then just keep an eye on it and you will be able to stop the car before any damage is done.

Yeah I'm looking into a Zeitronix myself, I was looking at the DashDaq which is nice but its a bit pricey I think I'm just gonna get the LCD display.

I've had mine for about 3 years. No problems with mine at this point. I to was planning to swap it out in about 10K miles. I also believe in cheap maintenance. I don't always follow the don't fix until its broken philosophy.

I only changed mine when I couldn't stand the noise anymore. But of course, I got my money out of it.
