I think you may want to try and pull the shift linkage again. reseat it to see if anything was out of whack. When I bought my car the trans was bad. When I pulled it apart I found a nut down in there. So I would see if anything is out of whack.

Thanks. I'll pull linkage tmmr. Anther weird thing is it sometimes snaps or clicks when pushing into first or 4th. Almost like the linkage is being pushed and hittig something.

Heres another ??, would driving the car in 5th gear at around 70 mph do anything to the motor being at a higer rpm? Im planning on driving it likee that for a while. As of now, its just sitting in the garage

Running the motor at a higher RPM I want to say won't hurt it but I would probably try and figure out the missing 6th hear before I would go romping around in the car. I would still be nervous that something would break.

Well, I just got done pulling the shifter mechanism out and reinstalling it and also the shifter cables as well. It still having the same issues.

Ive done a few transmission rebuilds on RSX Type S which has a similar trans to this and theres only 1 way that the shifter mechanism can go in or it wont go.

Im assuming that the syncro is #$%^&* at this point. After reading this thread ...

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...th-gear-2.html

and the many many threads out there about how the 6 speed MR trans just suck, Im not surprise at this point.

Now before I open her back up and start digging into the trans, Im assuming we can replace this part (taken from another thread)

If so, how much does Mitsubishi charge for it?

I would Contact Shep or Ivey and see if they can get you the part. I know that with the Trannys its a ***** to get parts.. Also they are not cheap.. And finding parts for the MR trans is not a simple task from what I gather. I have a spare 6sp that I have as my donor i can see if I have that part on there.

That would be great if you could. Also, I searched but did not come up with the results of what parts I need to convert to a 5 speed. While searching, I know that its not just a drop in where you can use the the 6 speed items. Im assuming its, trans, shift cables, and shifter box? Correct me if Im wrong. Thanks for all the help.

And at this time, I feel like giving up and just selling her. Is this wrong? Ive always wanted an Evo and to have this happen just kills me (more in the wallet then anything). Maybe I shouldve just stayed with Honda's. But then again, its not that expensive to fix and I just spent a ton of money on the Twin Disc and other mods. It would be a waste to throw that money away and not even get to enjoy. Thoughts??

Def contact Shep if you want to convert to 5sp. I didn't want to. A rebuild on yoru tranny will run probably over a grand. I paid about that to have Ivey rebuild mine. I have come to accept that this is part of the ownership of this car. I really like having a 6sp and since i daily drive the car I like it even more. I am not making insane HP but have nice bolt ons.

Every car has its issues.. Especially when you start modding it. If you love the car then you deal with the pain it provides.. Just my 2 cents...

Just got off the phone with Shep and he can do an oem rebuild on it for the 5 speed price + s/h which isnt bad. Im just strapped for cash right now as the exedy and other mods took majority of my savings and I was not expecting this to happen. Looking at the 5 speed option, Im assuming its going to be around 1500 (used trans + conversion parts) and thats not even sending it in to get rebuilt.

I understand the love/hate relationship, right now, I hate it
