Injector sizing on E85 w/FP Black

Guys

The car was previously equipped with an FP HTA Green and 1050's on a single pump and stock fuel system and making around 440/400 with the injectors pretty much at max duty cycle.

Since acquiring the car, I've thrown in a built bottom end setup, and acquired a double pumper along with some FIC 1650's. I am also on the hunt for an FP Black right now.

My question is, are these 1650's going to be too much of a pain to tune for idle and driveability on E85. I have had some people advise me to go 1200's, however, I am unsure what kind of headroom (horsepower speaking) on the FP Black.

I was thinking about just getting the 1200's and adding a regulator to the system and bumping it up a bit to get some extra headroom on the IDC's all while being able to keep a decent idle and driveability

Thanks

1650 should be plenty for your e85 and fp black. it shouldnt be that hard to dial in. at 33psi with 11.3 afr i was using 60% idc with fic 2150cc, but i use evoscan to log duty cycle and it is know nto be about 20% higher reading then actual duty cycle so even 1450's would do the trick for us probably. what power are you looking to make? 1200's and e85 i dont recommend.... minimum id recommend are fic bluemax 1450's.

I dont really know what kinda power im looking to make, I have seen several 600whp charts on the FP Black, and it looks like my only limitation really is the fuel system on the car.

I also forgot to mention that I have a COP setup, so ignition shouldnt be an issue either. I would think 600whp would be a good 'goal' to have with the black

The main concern is driveability, and idle, as I'll probably be selling the car once I get it tuned and have a little fun with it. I want to be able to hand it over to someone with it running/driving well.

mostly all fic bluemax injectors run wonderfully with the evo. if you have fic bluemax 1650cc injectors now they should be fine.. do some forum searching and see if johnbradley posted any info on the 1650's. my 2150 idle like stock and respond like stock..... its amazing how injectors advanced over the years.

600whp ya, my goal is about 630-650 max.. if the car has the right mods it will crack 600whp no problem at all.

a double pumper and 1650cc should support you up to 700whp with e85.

I figure it has the right mods for around 600. Running buschur ported intake/exhaust mani's as well as buschur 65mm TB. Also has the buschur race FMIC and the TBE setup

I agree. If your current injectors are running your car the way it's set up now and you have been happy with the driveability, when you upgrade around the fuel system your car should still have a similar idle and cruising characteristics to how it drives now.

I use FIC 1450s and they work great with E85. I have a black on the car now and will be on the dyno on tuesday so I could tell you what my duty cycle is then. Should be mid 600s and if I remember correctly, Mike at AWD ran 1200s up to 680 before maxing them out. I think the FIC 1450s should be plenty. I think you will max out the turbo before the injectors.

The 1650s will make 645whp at around 85% on our normal 100% scale. The 1450s were 63-64% at 535 with a double pumper. Johnny and my car with 2150s were 60-61% at 625whp and 73% at 708whp.

1650s drive way better than the older style 1600s but can benefit (if on gas) from the EZtune. On E85 where a 13.0 idle is okay, they are consistent and dont suffer from the bounct IPW like the 1600s did. I havent run them on a stock Evo computer only AEMs though (other than DSMlink which is really close to a stock computer for the Evo) so I cant say 100%.

On DSMlink we got them to idle with +4/-4 trims.

Will be curious to see your IDC's making mid 600's.....our power levels should show some similarities....

I only have the 1650's now because a local evo friend had them, and owed me money.

So does that mean since I was at 63-64% at 535 I may max out my injectors with my Black? What would be the max HP on the DJ that my 1450 injectors would prob go before 100% DC?

Anyone have the latency sheet for the FIC 1650 Bluemax injectors and can put the values in this thread? I found latencies for the 1450's but not sure if they are even close.
