Evo 8 turbo very LOUD
The car is stock right now, but I had my windows down for the first time and after hitting boost, the turbo is ridiculously loud... is this normal?
I also noticed that my plx is reading extremely rich when at WOT. is this an issue?

I don't have a boost gauge installed yet, so i don't know, but it hasn't been touched yet. AFR is digital, and is to quick to tell, but it gets up to 10. something, then digital readout reads "rich"
Well we need to know this before we can give you an answer. High 10's isnt that rich depending on wat oct gas and what the boost is, also if your running high boost then hearing the turbo isnt abnormal. Also with a small turbo you will hear the turbo more when half throttle and 10lbs verse wot an 25lbs., if you have a exhaust.

Thats because the turbo in a jetta is behind the motor, you probably here the turbo more through the exhaust than from the engine bay.
But you have to get a boost gauge and see how much your pushing, what gas are you using? if its anything under 93oct high 10's is fine.

Exactly......do a boost leak test. The coupling that blew off is probably leaking making it sound like the turbo is really loud, when in reality, its air coming out of the coupling.
Get a log or something, need to see whats the afr is at what psi vs the rpm to tell if your running rich. But ya do a boost leak test, I think more than anything your making a problem where there isnt one.
