i guess i killed my IX head?
so.. i was doing some work on my car today and came across this:

i'm stumped. i put everything together CLEAN, last time. it was all lubed up. you name it (or.. i guess not...). the head side of this cap is fine. the cam was fine. just this. i was like "wtf??!!".
i've read i can either buy a new cap and have it honed to match the rest or get a used head.
i'm a sad panda.

fixed. we have a REALLY good machine shop in Fresno.
he says this happens quite often, unfortunately. he took a flapper wheel to clean it up a bit. he said the difference in tolerance should be okay seeing how not much metal was removed/cleaned plus it's one cap of many.
we'll see how it goes.
