Wow a good thread. I'm having damn near the exact same issue after leaving for Afghanistan for a few months. The guys at the unit drove it twice before it died. I'll hook up evoscan tomorrow and see if I can't disable the immobilizer.

Probably by chance, yes. My issue was the dealer never properly programmed my spare key. I doubt anyone else would have the same issue unless they are in the same situation with their spare key... the immobilizer would be hard pressed to randomly trip unless you fried your transponder. The owner's manual does caution against placing your keys near large/powerful permanent magnets/electromagnets (speakers etc) because it could compromise the transponder.
