Ok all that right there............NOT easy to do for someone mechanically challenged or on their way to work for a DD.

Look i get it if you absolutely petrified then drain the tank. I'm tell you guys with REAL WORLD experience I have NEVER had an issue going back and forth between E85 and pump gas.

Why go through all the trouble when all I do is pull up to the pump on fumes. Fill up with my octane of choice. Drive normally since I'm not on the race track or 1320 everyday. When I say normally I mean I still get on it.Maybe its the way my tuner has tuned me but I get 0 knock.

You don't have to be mechanically inclined to pull off a hose and stick another on the same hose barb. Point end in container and press fuel pump on the evoscan actuator list. It really is that simple.

Right.....and just driving the tank until the yellow light comes on like most regular drivers and just filing up and not worrying about it is still easier.

We could go back and forth about this but .......I don't want to. Agree to to have different methods? :P

I've been weighing the whole e85 thing too, some of the considerations I've uncovered:

E85 is formulated to E70 in the winter time, you may need to consider a retune for the winter blend
E85 does NOT store well, it accumulates water vapor very easily, had a friend almost lose his motor because he had a drum of E85 stored in his garage (bad idea, in hindsight)
E85 may eat up spark plugs faster, not sure the technical reason behind this but a friend who runs E85 said he changes them out pretty often, out of necessity

But if you can accommodate those issues, E85 is an awesome solution, better than Q16 in the right tuner's hands.

If you're tuned properly then a retune isn't necessary

E85

I have been running E85 For 2years and I don't ever want to run pump gas in my Evo ever again. E85 is the best race fuel in my eyes because of the price and availability at a large number of stations, 114 octane for less than $2.00 a gallon .

You mean if you tune for E70 instead of E85?

I have run 3 alcohol kits on some of my last Evos and DSMs and now I am running E-85. Although the Alcohol kit gave me good results the E-85 gave me better results performance wise.
I must say that the advantage with the methanol was the cost, even though you initially spend the money on the components once is install and once you do the normal driving(no boost) there is no comsumption, instead with the E-85 the gas mileage is really bad.

I still recommend the E-85 over methanol(from a guy that have had 3 alcohol kits and now running E-85).

No I meant what I said. A good tune on E85 will make a retune for winterblend un-necessary.

Care to define "good" then?

Good as in not tuned to the ragged edge of reliability. Leaving a little on the table gives some room to account lower grades of E85 during the year.

I've been running E since I pretty much have had my car and I don't have any issues in the winter time.
