I run a turbo back with two 16" and 18" long resonators and my car is very very quiet-

Maybe i'll take a video today...

My exhaust is rather quiet for having huge lift Revolver cams. It breathes very well too.

Perrin DP and high flow cat
COBB cat back
I header wrapped and high temp sealing sprayed the DP and the cat back up to the resonator.

It is mellow at idle, and opens up nice when I am on it. No drone at all.

Not really. The center piece is the straight way path. But I dont know how big of an inner diameter it is.

I'm suggesting that you can't just cut a hole in the stock muffler and reroute it.
example

packed mufflers look like this- you can't just cut another hole and expect it to flow better. you can see the fiberglass would restrict the exhaust gases.

That's boomy enough to get a ticket around here since it has that aftermarket low tone. I'm really looking for a stock-like tone without the low frequencies that you inevitably get with a 3" muffler. The law in Virginia, at least the way it's enforced in Northern Virgnia, is that if it doesn't sound completely stock it's a violation. Stock replacement is okay (like a Midas job), but not an exhaust that's shiny or one that sounds lower/louder than stock (unless it's a V8, of course, which is okay).

intersting
sounding stock is such a subjective statement- what is the real law there?

we have a DB limit

That is about to as close to stock sounding as you can get. WOW. Impressive.

There is no way that will cause a violation of the 92db rule (California I think). Just paint it to keep it black and stealthy.

that is with the megan canon muffler- I would think a typical muffler with alot of glass in it would quiet it down more.

It is quieter than my COBB....then again I have MONSTER cams.....11.5 lift. So my car idles very lopey.

You could get it a little quieter when cruising by wrapping it from the Turbo back to the first resonator. Just make sure you use the DEI high temp sealing spray too.

Talk about stealthy....awesome job.

The pic of the muffler above is pretty much like my cobb (cobb is not an angle like that one though), but rather than fiberglass filling it uses steel wool. Same result, but will last much, much longer.

Same as any other state but enforced like ****'s. Modification that strays from stock is illegal.

If you don't drive like an ID10T and don't draw attention to yourself, and exhaust that is that quiet will never get "caught".

Besides....I have never met an officer that knows what "other than stock" is on an Evo. They are not car pros. I was pulled over once because of the STOCK WING. My car was stock at the time too. (this was several years ago but still)
