is it the actual pipe or the welds that crack? my dad owns a machine shop and if its just the welds i could have them gone over and beefed up so they couldnt crack, but if its the actual pipe idk.

well flow wise am i going to be better off with the stock mani or this manifold??

i dont have the time or money to get my stock mani ported and polish so that is not even an option.

its either stock mani or this obx mani and ill get the welds all gone over like crazy for free.

Any manifold that costs you less than $500 is most likely going to crack pre-maturely. Any OBX, Megan or other ebay brand mani is going to be made out of very thin metal that will eventually fail under the stress of the turbo and downpipe.

The reason the expensive ones don't tend to fail as often is because they are made of schedule piping which is A LOT thicker than the super thin tubing used in the manifold made overseas. It's not because overseas manufacturers can't produce a good manifold, it's the cost associated with a proper manifold.

Keep in mind, if you get a $150 manifold your probably going to have to replace it at least twice in your cars lifetime and with that low price comes almost no customer service.

So many are proponents of ported stockers, although they are good, they simply wont make the power of a good tubular. Ive seen tubulars make 20-30hp over the stock manifold with a stock turbo.

Yeah with supporting mods, a tubular manifold isn't worth getting unless you're making big power. There are little gains with a tubular manifold and its not worth the money.

Tubular manifolds on the stock turbo are a waste IMO

Sure you'll make 20whp in the higher RPM's but you'll lose at least that in the low end/mid range. For a normal daily driver I'd prefer a ported stocker. On a 500+ build I'd go with a quality tubular all day.

+29whp on a stock turbo with 272 cams. Thats impressive no matter how you look at it. The original 345whp is nothing significant, definitely doesnt take much. If the OP is running a Red he will see even better power increases with a good tubular.

For what most will pay for good porting/coating, the tubular manifolds are not a bad buy.
