car stutters when turning on?

Well, today i went outside and turned on my keys trying to start the engine and this happened. I turned on the key trying to turn on the engine and it seems like my car is stuttering to start. It made a weird noise like it almost couldnt turn on. The gauges went up and then down and back up again when it was cranking. What could this be? my battery?

low voltage probably, my gauges will do that the first time I start the car after having the battery disconnected for a while. Could also have a bad connection on one of the terminals.

Could it be? My terminals look good. But my gauges in my car that shows the voltage did go down to 13? It use to be on 14

Alright so i went out and tried on my battery charger, connect it and boom the car starts right up just fine. I took the battery charger(battery jumper) off and the car does the same thing.

That's a pretty solid indication that you need a new battery or at the very least a charge. Good luck!

So i took my battery to recharge and the dude from autozone told me there was suppose to be distilled water in the holes where the screws screws on. WTH? I never knew batteries take water? lol but my battery is bad cause supposedly he said i ran the battery to long without water.

Have your battery tested and see what percentage is still good. I do not believe you ever want to run a battery below 40% (don't quote me on that % though) because it can drain other parts such as the alternator. Also, have your alternator tested just in case.

Best bet is to just invest in a new battery!

Good luck
