Noises..

When not pushing on the clutch theres a loud vibrating rattle coming from the transmission, when I push the clutch in the rattle go's away. Could it be a bad trowout bearing or is this normal? thanx

I had the noise in my 2001 Eclipse GT and also have it in my EVO. Apparently, parts on the clutch plate rattle when things heat up. It should be harmless.

You may notice that it is louder when the A/C is on. You also may notice that it does not happen when the engine / tranny is still cold.

If the description above matches your symptoms, I wouldn't worry about it.

It's VERY difficult to get the dealer to do anything about it.

This just seems to be a common characteristic of Mitsu cars.

its the throwout bearing rubbing on the pressure plate... nothin to be concerned about unless it gets louder

Mine rattles like a **** after driving for about 20-30 min. You can audibly hear it from the other end of the parking lot. People at a stoplight with their windows down can hear it... *rattle rattle*

If it's loud enough I wonder if they'll do something about it..

Ya know, I'm having Deja Vous.. I think this exact same topic was discussed earlier today.. But the answers were more or less the same.

If you think it is loud now, you should hear it after you put a new clutch in.

Why is that? I'm asking because I just had an Exedy installed an now it sounds like somethings gonna break in there from all the rattling!!! It was bad before, but NOW!!! OMG!!! I can even feel my clutch pedal vibrate if i just lightly put my foot on it while I'm decelerating in 3rd 4th and 5th gear...

I'm gonna see what AMS says about it...

I have the Exedey as well and it sounds like the whole bottom of the car is going to fall out...so that is normal! Glad to hear another with the same thing. I have the twin disc--is that what you have as well?

Ya kidding? two disks and two plates means twice the rattling! Very little shock absorbing hardware on their either, its all about grabbing.. If you think about it.. Performance isn't always pretty.. Its usually loud, dirty, and offensive.
