QM Twin
QM Twin
I read through another thread started by evodude where he shaved .025" off of the flywheel side of the QM discs and was able to double the life of the clutch. I know that QM released a new clutch not too long ago and I wanted to find out if the new version implemented the shaved down hubs, or if this process would still have to be done by a 3rd party machinist?
Just got off the phone with Adam over at MAP and the new QM clutches will be coming out in about a week. They will also have a newly designed hub that is thinner to address the issues seen with the prior design and forgo the necessity of milling down the hubs.
I think I should have waited to get my QM til this new version comes out. Oh well. At least I'm pretty sure that when I need to rebuild mine, that I can use the new version's rebuild kit.

The old style you can shave. It works. Guy on here tested it.
The new style is a completely different design that cannot have the same issue as the current model.
The new style QM also has more input shaft spline engagement. Win-win. Buy the new QM if you're on the fence. I've been waiting since January for the new QM. It was only a month away 6 months ago. So now they tell me 2 weeks...must be another 3 months. I'm certainly not holding my breath.

The triple has a higher MOI... won't shift as well. This twin has an exceptionally high torque capacity...so IMO I see no reason to go to a triple
It would be nice to see some pictures of the NEW style QM twin for the Evo.
