Can I do this too my evo?

I was wondering if I could take parts from a 2.4 4g64 motor and put them on the original 2.0. And if i can what are my limitations. I want a 2.4 build but I want to know how to do it with out destroying my pockets. I only want 550 wheel relialbly and i believe I spun a bearing today. So I think i want to get a 2.4 crank forged it and go from there to make a 2.4 monster. But I am honestly a little confused about how to do it.

AH! Yeah I was gonna say something similar to Drew when I read your original post. =P Anyway, there are already threads on this very topic. Search around a bit.

I know you can take your head and put it on the 4g64 block, but you'll be loosing the oil squirters and water and oil jacket thicknesses if you do that. As far as taking the crank, rods, and pistons out to put'em in the 4g63 block, I remember there was a problem with this. Something about the crank maybe.

it would only make a 2.3 on our 2.0 block. when u buy a 2.3 stroker kit u actually get an oem 4g64 crank. it is 100mm. in order to get a true 2.4 you would have to use the 2.4 block also. i suggest u just get a 2.4 motor out of a car and change the rods and pistons then put your head on it. that would probably be the cheapest way for u

NO! This cant be done,.. why would you want to do this!? The 4G64 motor is an N/A motor, weak internals. And it has a deck height thats 6mm taller. So if somehow you did do this, which is pointless, the pistons would stick out the block 6mm.

If you want to go the CHEAP route. And have a built motor that will hold 600 wheel. Id say a Wiseco/Eagle build, pistons and rods for under $800, and just buy some new bearings and what not. Or sell your block, and call AWD Motorsports and get a 2.4 from them.

There's been plenty of people who have done this, but a lot of them blew their engines becuase they tried puuting out more power than the 64 block can handle.

alot of mis information in this thread when motors blow its usually not because of the build. hate to break it to you but the 4g64 block has been proven to hold over 1000whp look at map preformace look at awd motorsports build 713 i mean come on now research before you start spreading wrong information a 2.3 and 2.4 are different motors. if you want a 2.4 you need to do it right and get a 4g64 block and start from there. if you want a 2.3 you have to machine the 4g63 block etc. first thing is first decide what you want out the car and a BUILT BLOCK IS NOT CHEAP. there are alot of things involved that should be replaced and not reused. its when you cheap out that you have weak internals and then things go wrong take your time buy good internals and just save up and do it right. you may have to wait for it but thats how it is sometimes you will get there eventually.

LoL, i took it as he ment a direct swap, gut the 4g64, and toss the ecplise/galant internals in the 4g63.

That's exactly what I meant. I guess I missed some info. Oops.
