Kelford 272 cam install (need input)

Just installed a set of kelford 272 cams, valve springs, retainers, stem seals, ETS upper pipe (short), ETS intake (no recerc). The car starts idle is horrible and vehicle misfires intermittent. I'm thinking its due to the cams and the intake (everything else being stock). Is this normal or am i looking at other issues.

Just had the same issue, I would double check you timing. What vacuum is she pulling at idle?

^^ +1 you cant just bang in some aggresive cams, turn the key and think everything will be hunky dory lol... That said it should start and idle ok without a tune... I would also double and triple check the cam timing =)

Cam timing is spot on. Checked it 5+ times during the install. Vacuum is around 10 @ idle. I did find the blow off valve was adjusted all the way out, so i tightened the spring pressure to prevent leak. Also back out the idle adjustment screw quite a bit. She is idling now, though rough (does not stall). While driving it feel butter smooth and great, its just at idle. I'm pretty sure it because he's running on a stock ecu.

It does have an aftermarket turbo back. and I have it idling at 900 - 1000 rpms.

It does concern me that the above post stated that it should idle ok with out tune. It would def stall with out the idle air screw backed out.

well it wont be super ruff but it should start and idle.... I only say that because I changed my cams 2 272s with no tune and it started and I was able to drive it (no boost at all) but it was ok albeit ruff as hell.
