What happened at the dyno today?

Got my car tuned today at Buschur on e85 .

The last pull that we did was on 34 lbs and at about ~7000 rpms it sounded like an intercooler pipe popped off. It was a very loud and pretty much sounded like compressed air released. The sound lasted for maybe 5-10 seconds.

We took a look and could not find anything. He gave me a list of a few things that it could be: head gasket, water pump, freeze plug... etc.

There was no leak. Pulled the car off the dyno and onto the trailer... it ran fine.

Got the car home and checked coolant reservoir for oil. Drained the radiator and checked for oil. Checked the dipstick for coolant. And everything still is fine...

Tonight I've idled the car 3 times for 3-5 minutes and it starts up and runs great everytime.

I can't seem to come to a conclusion on what happened, other than what Dave suggested about the head gasket could have barely lifted.

Any suggestions on what to do or what is wrong?

I would test for a boost leak also. Maybe he just pushed it to the point of where one of the hoses started seeping air around a clamp. So unless you push it to that level again it should be okay. I would do a boost leak and check the clamps and hoses.

You should be okay. Especially if it runs okay now. Test it and see what it tells you.

check your BOV too. Maybe the spring or the vacuum line...

As others said unless you build that boost again you might not see the problem...

Boost leak test and comp. test woud be somethings that i would do before i race the car.

Funny thing... I did a boost leak test right after I installed the turbo which was the night before I went to get it tuned and it would only allow 2 psi to be pumped in...this was with a bike pump so I figured the pump was bad.

I tried a boost leak test again tonight with a compressor and it did the same thing..no more than 2 psi.

I will do a compression test today or tomorrow most likely.

I do not have head studs/bolts but I did buy some on my way out yesterday. He said that I could re-torque the stock ones down and see if that helps, but I may as well just install the new ARP's.

There are just no signs of a blown head gasket though.. I still have to do a compression test; that will tell me something.

Not sure on the boost leak test... It will only allow 2psi.. but the car holds boost fine when running. It did this even before the tune and new turbo.
