Thumbs up Custom tuned dynoflash is the way to go!

Well, today we had our dynoflash session in Atlanta. I'm very glad I decided to go with big Al's street tune. As far a power goes, I was a bit dissapointed and frustrated as my car could not be tuned to get the power I wanted because I was running bad gasoline We put in a can of octane booster and were immediately able to gain 2+ degrees of timing across the board without knocking

The interesting and very educational thing was to see what my car was doing and how it was running under load... As I had already seen in my data logs, the ECU was pulling tons of timing at certain rpms/tps/load points. Al was able to tune all the detonation out of my car and got it to run more strongly and extremely more smoothly. I'd guess that I picked up several HP and lots of pull at the top end.

Under stock conditions and with the stock maps, my car was knocking so much that the timing was being pulled all the time.... The car was also running a little bit lean at certain RPMs
If I had just kept running my SAFC2 with the generic "safe" settings I had, I was just going to run even leaner and generate that much more knock with the concurent timing retardation. In other words, my car would run like crap and possibly get damaged Same story with the generic maps or reflashes one can order by mail. There is just no substitute for an expert tuner's touch. Al is definitely knowledgeable and very careful with is tuning and his maps.
I was with him as we did several pulls in all gears and watched the Motec wide band O2 sensor, the knock link and the data logging. Al dialed in the A/F rations to perfectly safe yet powerful numbers. The knock was reduced to a minimum and the timing maintained as high as possible without detonation.
The other guys had better gasoline and their results were even better than mine. One of the Evos was actually breaking all wheels loose and leaving long black marks from a rolling start!!

I'll let the other guys post their own experiences, but I can state that Al's dynoflash tune is a very good, safe and economical way to get excellent performance gains from your car!

Oh yeah, Al is also quite a nice guy and really does not deserve the dissing he gets from some quarters. Here is a picture of the Motec O2 sensor & Knock link set up.

Al's character

Just for information, I heard another thing that should be said about Al. He was in Atlanta last night and he had a conversation with 2fast2furious... this guy has been on Al's case for ever and says all kinds of **** about Al and his products. Al invited 2fast2furious to come and join us, Al wanted a chance to explain and demonstrate his product to his critic and offered him a free demo of his flash, no strings attached, just so the man could see what the Dynoflash is like and to compare it with whatever other options he might consider.... Well, apparently 2fast2furious refused the offer and went on to post some insulting stuff about Al blowing up engines with the dynoflash .....
Again, Al is not perfect, but he certainly showed some class and lots of flexibility and even friendship, yet all he got in return was a slap in the face......

Thanks for posting the nice pictures !!

I LOVE that T-bird - nothing like a v8!

And THANKS for the nice words and review of the Dyno Flash.

I had a great time in Atlanta today - it was nice to meet so many fellow Evo owners and also it was great to meet George at Boost Solutions yesterday.

It was very sad about your car and the bad gas. Could not believe it was detonating STOCK so badly. Its very hard to tune a car to make MORE power when its detonating stock!!!!!!!! You shoudl WARN fellow Atlanta Evo owners to STAY AWAY from that QT or what ever gas station you went to - the gas was a joke.

BTW - it always seems that the guys with the Buschur exhuast make mega power. We Dyno Flashed an Evo with no boost controller today with just Buschur 3" TB exhuast and HKS suction kit. The car made so much power it would break all 4 tires loose and slide sideways in 1st gear. You just can't beat the Buschur products for making power.

Thanks again for all your help! It was nice to meet all you guys - see you all again sometime soon I hope.!!!!!!!!

PS - you are an AMAZING photographer - I can't believe you caught the 2nd shot - nice work!

Re: Al's character

Maybe it's time to spend some money and get rid of that Miami muffler and stop putting cheap *** QT gas in your car. When I asked why do you use the ****tiest gas money can by you said "If my car blows up QT will fix it because that is what they did for my friend" lol And all of this is coming from you who said "A turbo time just wastes gas". Is that why you are pissed at me because your car made no power? Also it seem like every time Al goes out it's always gas. I was at work today and I told Al that I had to work, also I said he was pretty cool for offering me a free flash, and that RIP motor thing was joking. I like Al and I know his stuff works. When I have my Vishnu stage 1+ done we can race and see who is faster, or go do a track day and see what works better. Lighten up man. Also who got a slap in the face? You paid $500 for NO more power because you are too cheap to spend 10c more on a gallon of gas.
