I dont really care about the loudness since its a dedicated race car. I might carry keep an exhaust in the trailer or something for certain tracks with noise restrictions.
Maybe ya lost power with less backpressure from WG opening. Greater psi differential accross turbine (ideal) requires higher WG load to handle gradient.
You cannot increase turbine efficiency by decreasing thermal/mechanical energy gradient accross it. The goal here is to get the flow moving out exhaust, not backwards, and restrict exhaust enough it will move backwards, back up into intake. Car sure felt more powerful with WG slammed shut though, right before you saw that chunk of metal with the knock sensor harness attached fly through the hood vent.

Sorry about thread digging. So does no exhaust just a straight dump to the ground improve or hurt the cars performance? Can someone chime plz. I am guessing that it in fact does increase power.
But there are so many mixed responses I am not sure. Btw I am thinking of doing this to my car, and it would be drive on the street at times...
Worth it?
