Hi guys im a new owner to a evo 7 and realized its equiped with just a straight pipe.. i was wondering is that better ? newb here :3 also some evos have a pop sound on many other evos u can here it grabling sounds in the exuast i just have a straight sound even while no pressins on the peddle just a normal flow no pops just worrying to not do any damage to my manifold ? not sure whats good whats not can some one please teach me ! thanks

 

Straight pipe is better regarding flow of exhaust gases, it does get a bit loud to some people. If you want to make it a little bit less loud put a hi flow cat in it.

The pop sounds has a bit more to do with tune/set up. If your talking about the sound that the anti-lag system makes than you would need to have the SAS system and then turn it on in the ecu. Anti-lag system does wear away the the turbo as it is making boost all the time.

There is no need to stress over your evo not making that sound.

 

IF it is too loud for you, putting in a proper non tapered resonator won't hurt power.

 

I have a straight pipe and it doesn't bother me too much, however all my friends hate me haha.

Your car doesn't have to be loud to be fast.. Just makes you an obnoxious honda kid

 

Straight pipe will def help spool and power... with a stock exhaust I doubt anyone except an Evo owner would notice.
