I know the plastic BOV isnt my favorite thing in the world and would be much happier with a DSM one but I cant help but thint that from your original xede experience that the piston in that BOV wont fully shut or is sticking. I wouldnt think you have any boost leaks but thats a possibility also with the BOV change

I would definately focus there if the boost settings are at 100.0 then there is nothing else it can do to make more boost (remember it completely controls the factory solinoid) If you are leaking it out then its not the Xedes fault but your hardware that you paid good money that is actualy hindering your performance. Does your bro have a BOV?

Does shiv send out boost maps of 23 psi? I find that hard to believe! Outside of the engine light, which sucks BD, you only have boost problems now after setting up some nutty boost target. What other maps did you screw with before you encountered your problems?

I find it amusing hearing all these initial complaints about the exede, only to later find out the problem was user error!

If Al is willing to take back his product, that only means there are people out there who can screw that up too. Otherwise refered to as "people who can screw up a wet dream"

If want to sell your exede, let me know!

Also I would really hope that your tuner could track down a leaking bov Im not knocking him but he needs to be more astute when taking your money to tune a 30K high HP car with powerful EM. Just a thought

I run 1.5 bar but I am mindful of timing and fuel (tuned my cars for 3 years but nowere near as good as shiv or a handful of other shadetrees) as well as the hardware limitations. shivs maps are ~22 psi remember we do have a good sized turbo and 4g63s love boost and good gas

Kevin,
First of all, I don't think I've ever talked to you. I've only talked to your tuner. As I told him, please realize that you are running a test pipe. The baseline XEDE maps currently available on the website are designed for cars running cats. The test pipe wil make your car overboost. To tweak the map for your car, you will need to dial back the boost tables so that you don't trigger boost cut. It's really quite easy and many people have managed to do it without getting frustrated. I've tried doing it for you by emailing you out a modified map. But it would be a LOT easier if you or your tuner could dial it in yourselves. All you need is a boost gauge and a functional laptop.

I talked to your tuner yesterday. He told me that once he use used the right port in the his laptop to connnect to the XEDE, he got your car running wonderfully on the modified map I sent you last week. Appearantly this is no longer the case.

The XEDE is a USER TUNABLE device. I highly encourage you (or your tuner) to take advantage of that little feature instead of relying on my best-guess boost maps, which I'm trying to tune remotely for you. This feature comes in handy when running a custom set up such as yourself. Also, if your BOV vents to atmosphere, take it off and but the stock unit back on. As for max boost pressure, it shouldn't go above 21-22psi peak. If it goes much higher than that, you will trigger a boost cut.

Regards,
Shiv

I am not questioning the limitations of the standard turbo system, however I havent personally seen what the std issue maps offer for boost levels. 23 psi sounds kinda high for "here you go" type of maps. 1.5 bar should be totally acceptable, but only after you have sorted out the system & reading to step it up a notch. Sorry, my wife is watching "Emeril" on the food network!

There's no mention to what octane gas is being used either.

I understand your concers but have seen the work he has done with the reflash and XEDE first hand and the newr maps will just get better and better dialed in. The wrx maps dont need custom dyno tuning and lotsa times he cant get more out of it with tuning. I dont think the EVO maps are quite there yet but they are getting even better from the already great baselines. Remember boost is the only "static" thing and the factory ecm and Xede make a very dynamic tool for daily driven and weekend trackers.

I apologize for an unclear statement with regards to"getting the system sorted out". I was refering to the end user & not shiv or any aftermarket system for that matter.

A hammer is just a beating tool in some peoples hands while others can build a lot with hammer.

I am looking forward to getting a similar sytem once the funds become available. However, thats my problem!
