I heard BC 272 were a great bang for the bucks...is it good for powerband all the way across the board? Or mainly just Top-end?

I don't think I'd recommend BC cams to anyone, even if they were $100 USD.

Why do you say that? You had some bad experiences with them?

I've never owned them.

In AMS' cam test, they reported the BC cams being off the cam card spec by as much as 5 degrees, and the overall results were disappointing.

Kelford or GSC seem to best for overall power, HKS is a good cam for the money. I run the 272's and they make some good broad power.

I am still wondering about streetability. Are 264s or 272s better for a daily driver that is relatively civilized yet can open up when necessary. and how much difference is there on the mivec equipped engines compared to the non mivecs?

GSC FTW

the GSC cams are the best Bang for the buck Cams, new S2 274 are the Cam of choice!

When I had my EVO 8 we use to run split Cams for better drivability:
GSC 264 intake and GSC 272 exhaust

They worked so great that when I was choosing Tomei ProCams for my 9 - I also went for a split pairing:
270 (11.5mm) intake and 280 (11.5mm) Exhaust
{Both our Shop Cars use Tomei ProCams}

I have used HKS 272 with good effect - great mid range Cam and nice gains over stock...

But the Cam of choice on our builds remain GSC S1 or GSC S2 - results are always great. Bang for the buck they are the ones I recommend,

Sal

i was just going to ask if anybody out there have run 264/272 combos. i used to run that setup on my eclipse with HKS cams. worked great. i did a magnus mani at the same time so i cant really get a great comparison over stock. went from 308whp/287tq to 357whp/291tq with no other changes. Wish i had waited on the manifold at the time. Might have helped with the torque numbers.

Supersal - did u do a comparison on a dyno with the split combos vs straight 264 or 272?

Unfortunately back then the only other Cam the were used in Evo around here were HKS 272 and I think the GSC 264/272 was as good as if not better than that...

but didnt really get to do any Dyno Comparisons... exept on the GSC S1 vs the HKS to 272 on the EVO 9 and the S1's make more power.
