I tightened the WGA. I could only go 1 full turn untill it bottoms out so it was pre-loaded already. That must not be my issue so any other ideas??

how far did you have to pull it out before it would slide over the flapper arm?

Had to pull it out a decent amount. But like I said I could only tighten it one turn. It was already pre-loaded

Tried the new pre-load this morning and it's a no go. Just spiked higher but still didn't hit full boost till right around 4,600.

Dang that sucks! If it was me I'd disconnect my boost controller and just run wastegate pressure then to see if its the BC. Also maybe check for bad exhaust leaks - manifold to turbo, etc.

Lol there aren't ANY leaks anywhere. The turbo is brand new I just put it on. No exhaust leaks, no boost leaks.

It's just spooling slow. It might be the boost controller but boosting to 18psi is going to come a lot quicker then 24psi.

If you tightened the WGA you'll probably end up with more than 18psi. Maybe log where you see 20psi at now so you have a control.

what cam gears are you running?

when you remove the w/g actuator turn buckle, where is the peg of the w/g are relative to the actuator hole? a little pre-load or in the middle of the hole, etc...

Stock cam gears. This is an Evo8 if I didn't mention before. Kelford 272's.

When I remove the w/g it is past the arm, as in I would need to pull the arm out in order for it to connect onto the arm. The pre-load adjustment is maxed out right now. I'm positive the wastegate flapper is staying shut, so I don't know if that's the issue.

I'm wondering if it's a timing advance issue, but I've tried both extremes. Very low timing, or decent timing. Nothing makes a difference.

The VSR IM is really overkill for a pump/Red set-up and is likely your lag culprit.

I thought that, but I had a 35r set-up on the car previously and it made 25psi by 4,600 rpms. There's no reason the Red should be spooling the same as a 35r did on the car! Only difference was the turbo set-up. Same intake, charge pipes, fmic, intake manifold, etc. etc.

Here is a VD graph from my latest AEM log showing how slow spool is. This was only 22-23psi. 4,500-4,600 when full boost is achieved.

Lemme know what you guys think.

what are your cam settings?
we found that +5/+3 made it spool about 500rpm faster, but needed 2psi more on the topend to maintain power. This was with kelford 272's, with FP Red turbo.
