Which is better and Why: New Tial MVR 44mm or Percision Turbo PW46 46mm wastegate?

I have a 03 evo 8. I am putting together a GT35R kit for my evo and I want to know which wastegate is better or has no difference?

I only noticed that the Precision PW46 is the following:
1. cheaper
2. 2mm over the Tial
3. comes with extra springs

New Tial MVR is smaller, more expensive, has color options, and you only get one spring.

Which is better and why: New Tial MVR 44mm or Precision Turbo (PW46) 46mm wastegate?

What are the benefits of having a water cooled wastegate over the standard wastegate?

why in the heavens name would you need water cooling in a wastegate?

precision hands down!
not having to order springs = win.

99% of people would not use a watercooled wastegate and I have heard of issues with the tial gates warping when run without the watercooling. I prefer the older tial 44mm wg to the new one. The PTE is a killer value and works great.

Is anyone using the TurboSmart 45mm wastegate (TS-0504-1001) instead of the Tial MVR 44mm?

I have heard that it holds boost better. It is about a $100 more, is it worth the money?

Better depends on what you need.. Smaller size, more spring choices?? decide what you need it for and then you can figure out which is better.. both control boost about the same..

I pretty much decided on the Tial 44mm and then someone mentioned this TurboSmart 45mm.

I am sure that it is their personal opinion and I will be fine with the Tial with my 35R setup.

Thank you for your reply.

Precision 46mm Wastegate is your best bang for you buck. Color instructions that educate the owner on how the product works and a full line of springs that are included.

I bought the Tial MVR 44mm wastegate (red, new design) from AFI Turbo with my hot parts kit.

I have not received it in the mail yet, but I am excited!

road racing
low flow engine bay
top of the unit is near the downpipe
you dont want the color of the top to change - if you got a colored top and get the engine very hot

we put the prototypes on the volvo S60R touring cars a year and a half ago, and after a season and a half they haven't had to service a single wastegate

So I purchased the Tial MVR 44mm in red.

How do you hook up the water cooling since I at least do not want the color to fade over time?
