Hi guys,

Trying to see if I can get some info on this issue.
Around the internet, there are some people saying there might be a phantom knock issue with the kelfords.

I have been trying to eliminate a knock with timing, boost leak, diff gas, etc..

I always have about 5 counts, no matter what I do.

Has anyone heard of this?

i did not notice any phantom knock when I installed my kelford 272's. however my knock sensor settings were already tuned when I put them in because Im running a 2.3L.

when i was getting phantom knock, it wasn't 5 counts, it was maxxing out the sensor at 36 counts. a count of 5 might not be phantom.

Put some 100+ oct in the tank. if the knock goes away, then its real, if it stays then its phantom

you could also get some det cans, but thats a little more involved.

 

Don't take me wrong but are you sure the lifters were bled before installing the new cams?

 

What justboosted said...easiest way to determine if it's real or not...race gas. FWIW, I have Kelford 272's and no knock issues
