another knock issue

Hey all

I have been having an issue with knock for awhile. I can get one or two 3rd gear pulls with little to no knock then the next two or three will have counts over 6 in different rpm and load ranges. I am starting to think that it is phantom knock. Here's my timing map and I am running the mods in my sig with boost at 21psi and 91 octane.

I forgot to add that boost set to 20psi did not help with the knock.

I just looked at the log. Your fuel trims are offset at -25 %, and the battery voltage is a little low. i typically see 13.8 to 14.3 V on my 05 MR. i know this affects injector latency so you may be running a little lean. Also the knock is starting well below 3000 and pulls timing rapidly so you are in effect ATDC ( -1 ) and it is sustained. Not sure if that is phantom knock as it looks like you ar e in the 130-150 load.. you might want to run the map tracer posted in the Ecuflash forum to see where the knock is occuring in specific load cells, then you go from there and adjust the timing in the lower load areas.

Are you running a Walbro?

the car is not runing hot water temps on that run so it is Ok .....but look at the Intake air temp it is pretty high... Even if you live in Arizona LOL

AHA...it happens on 2-3 pulls right ...You got heat soak or are pulling in hot air ..and I see you have a modified airbox?....i would try the stock airbox and see if that fixes it. BTW this is on 91 isnt it?

Sometimes it happens on the first pull. I have a fairly new battery and I am running on 91. I am going to drop the boost to 19.5psi.

Are these pulls like 4 straight pulls back to back, if so maybe heatsoak? Also try to run with some racegas and see if you get the same results.

Hi

Have you tried pulling the timing back by about 4 degs to see if it still knocks?

I took 1 degree out of the areas the the map tracer utility pointed out and dropped the boost to 19.7psi. I managed to get three pulls in this morning and I only got a couple of 1 to 2 count blips. I will get somemore runs this afternoon when it is hotter.

Hi

You also need to drop out some timing on cells either side of those indicated by the m ap trace, as the ECU interpolates between the cells, then you should look at getting a smooth transition from low to high load and the same for RPM.

Ok so I hit up to 4 counts a few times when the temp was 100. Here's the log and the timing I will be running tomorrow:
