how much knock is ok?
is it ok if i have an occasional account of knock? i only had 2 total counts of knock in my last log and they were at seperate rpms.....is that ok?
Under 5 knocks your car should be fine if it is just at a certain spot. Before I started using Ecuflash my car knocked at one spot all the time we tried to tune it out, but it was always there unless we ran it relly rich and then it had no power. I was tuning with an AFC and use headphones to listen for knock.

what I have found so far is that, High RPM knock counts are the real and presents a threat. It is hard to get false knock at High RPM range.
However, you do get false counts in the mid range or real counts alot
. The ultra sensitive spot is around 3000~4000 rpm.

I know some people say that small counts of knock are acceptable but from what I have seen the ECU pulls timing on even 1 single count so why not tune it out? It is possible to get rid of all knock at WOT, it just takes time.
if you have knock at WOT...there is a problem and it needs fixed. regardless every engine detonates...it happens, its just so minimal it goes unnoticed especially in factory cars (no mods, etc.)

Because it is usually not repeatable. You can't tune out something that you can't reproduce. Also it pulls so little timing that you don't even notice it. Before loggers guys didn't even know they had partial throttle timing pull.

If ya ain't knocking ya ain't tryin.
People are getting overboard with this knock thing. You will not be able to tune to ZERO KS with consistent repeatable results. You can achieve one run w/o knock, but try the same WOT run the next day/weak/month and you are likely to get some knock. 1-3 counts of random KS are fine. The ones to worry about are the ones that have long duration and a large number.

Thanks
Most pro tuned EURO evo i have logged have some knocks counts.
Depending of the guy & the way he work.
If you make more power & torque you make more noise.
Stock knock filters are not calibrate for more power & more torque.
So it's normal to see some knock counts depending of the RPM.
At low RPM & mid RPM i would say 1-2-3 sometimes still good. But 0 for most of the time is the best.
At high RPM (>5000) i would say up to 10 counts on 43 still good. Depending of your mods. 10/43 = 23% of knock it's nothing after 5000.
I am trying to dont tune myselft more than 7-8 at high RPM.
But i have seen up to 10-15 counts after 5000 on most pro tuned evo 8 with 21-22psi of boost using pump gaz. I doubt most pro dont know what they are doing, so i think it should be the acceptable limit.

Yes and no. It depends. When I tune on race gas for a quarter mile pull I tune for a little bit of knock. You can get a quicker burn with an acceptable level of detonation. For a street tune though, sure tune it out.

I'm not trying to argue with you, just want to get a bit more info from those that know more then myself.
