3582HTA is just about right for a 8500rpm and down 2.4L motor. Its all combination specific and what you specifically can tolerate in behavior. The other aspect is tune (I dont mean just ECU), all the parts mean far less if its not working together.

i looked at his build and saw it was a 3586, didnt know it was hta tho, from what i heard the hta 86 produces about 100hp more then a none hta 86, and the hta 82 more or less just improves spool time over a none hta 82. plz correct me or add to it if i was misinformed, id love to see his graphs if someone can find it off hand

all there bells and whistles.
will be running E-85

so for the longest time ive had the fp black in mind for my turbo since its a proven performer. record is what 713hp? so far..

ive also had my eye on the fp hta gt 3582, i hear spool is decent but havent found much results or seen any on a 2.4 so id like some opinons on how it might or might not perform. and what a/r would be best?

i plan to shift at 8500...

so fp black, hta gt3582, other suggestions?

Plan to shift at 8500??? Then your choice of a 2.4 is NOT a good idea.

For a 6767, or 6765, etc they have been around enough where you can go look for dyno sheets in the dyno section and find a few with your setup to see how they spool. But it shouldn't be too bad either.
Well the 37R AKA T04Z or T67 with a 2.4L motor I would think would be very strong for mid range and medium 8500 rpm.. but you may want a bigger AR size.. I currently have it on my built 2.0L and spinning it to 9500rpms it still wants more.. and I'm running 32psi on pump.. it loves screaming up top so you may want a larger AR so you can get more out of it from mid range to 8500rpms.

8500 is the limit on a 2.4, remember thats the same limit on the 2.3 and its the same R/s. Longer rods help in the long run, but even then if you think you can live at 8500 in either it wont happen. Occasional racing and shifting high is fine, in fact I am starting to think that going higher is even safe.

Read anything Kiggly has posted in the "To stroke or not to stroke" thread and you'll get an idea of what the issues are and what the max rev limit.

Toxic-

There is not a "nonHTA" 3586, they are all HTA. The only non HTA you can get is the standard 3582 vs the HTA3582.

Dyno sheets-

Full power at 38psi on E85 (from the pump, not mixed)

Pumpgas at 25psi

Also on pumpgas it does make torque more like the full power graph, playing with the boost controller I got some of that back. 20psi comes at 4400 or so despite fuel or boost level.

if a 2.4 can rev to 8,500 safely then i imagine a 156mm rod 2.2 should have no problem revving to 9,000 with the same safety margain. yes/no?

156mm 2.2 will be 1.66 or 1.67 R/s as I recall. Piston speed maxes out around 9200-9400. When I still had my 2.2 I revved it that high on the street. That is actually a classic example of what I am talking about when I say total tune. I had everything I have now except the cams and that motor didnt do what I had hoped it would. It actually made peak power lower than the 2.4 does now. Albeit we are talking 200rpm, but still.

it just sounds so high to me. i would think the rings would wear pretty hard at piston speeds like that. not going to argue though, you have far more experience than i do.

I dont think it would be a 100k motor doing that regularly, but at the same time I dont think it will get smoky that fast either. Piston to wall and gap has alot to do with that as well.

Friend of mine has a 2.2L GSC block... IIRC around 8500 it starts getting noisy so thats the max he can go too
