information please (transfer case)

Hi. so i am under my car doing some work and i notice a lot of oil residue around my drive shaft and all over my downpipe. so i look closely and see that a little drip of oil is hanging from the case right where the drive shaft is attached. it looks like oil has shot out all over my down pipe and chassis in that area. it looks like it was sprayed all over in that area.. no real problems with the transmission at this point aside from the typical high rpm gear lockout.

would somebody tell me what exactly would cause oil to be leaking out of of the case right there where the drive shaft is attached? what would a typical fix of this problem be?

thanks in advance everyone

i believe its coming from the output seal on the transfer case, right where the drive shaft goes in..does anyone know if this is common?

How does the transfer case look? Does the down pipe touch the transfer case at all?

no the downpipe does not touch it. i heat wrapped the DP to keep heat away too. do you know if its possible to replace that seal without taking that tower piece off the case..im hoping i can just pull out the drive shaft and have access to the seal to remove and replace it?

after 7 years you might expect to see more seals failing.

always inspect everything every oil change.
