I would have to agree with doing a boost leak test and leaving the pills alone.

Did you ever figure this out? I am having the same problem. I just put the boost gauge in tonight took it for a spin and only 11-13psi., i bought the car from a dealer a year ago and they had to replace the ecu. The guy that had it before me had it apart a couple times.(some bolts are missing from under the hood)

Anyone know what i should check?

Got to start with a boost leak test. I wouldn't check or do anything else until that was done.

Is there anyway to check to see if the boost solenoid has gone bad without buying a new one? Also, is there anyway to visually check to see if the boost lines are original?

90% of the time when this issue happens it's a result of swapping the vacuum lines to the solenoid/controller which causes the car to run at wg pressure.

Take the solenoid out of the picture, run the two vacuum lines connected directly to one another and drive your car. Don't stomp on it, go gradual, hit 10psi, press harder, go 11psi, harder, etc, see if the boost peaks out at 11-14. If it does and you've done nothing else to the car the solenoid is bad (this is assuming you've covered the basics like boost leak).

^^ thanks.

Anyway to check visually if the boost lines are OEM? Maybe mine are missing the pills.

uggg... found out that my lines were in fact, not stock. Missing both pills. Bought a replacement set and install them today... still at 11psi. This is so F'ing annoying! Do need to do a battery reset after installing new boost lines? Doubt it but thought I would ask.

Anyone know which side is positive and which side is negative on the boost solenoid? I want to test that next but don't want to blow it up by mis connecting it.
