Here are some pictures of the new spark plugs i put in... I ran them for about 200 miles and you can already see the top part burning/eaten away. This was from cylinder 1 and the way the spark plug sits in the head i think the part getting burnt up is facing the exhaust manifold. Do that indicate anything?

post up some logs with boost and afr as well as knock and knock voltage. that would help people diagnose your issue.

Just did a compression test on a hot engine with all the spark plugs out
cyl 1 135
cyl 2 132
cyl3 136
cyl4 128

Considering cyl 1 is drivers side over to passanger side.

This is for an evo 9 with kelford cams if it makes any difference....does this seem too low?

the cyl #4 is really low 128 but consider the kelford cams and that still puts you within the service limit, and since cyl #2 was 132 i think its safe to say your motors ok. The compression is low yes, but numbers are close enough together to be ok.

How long were you running the car knocking? the more it knocks the more it burns life of the piston rings. seems they are starting to loose their seal now big time.

How many miles on the motor? are you the first owner? do you know the history of this motor/ car? Basically you'll just have to spin the turbo faster (more boost) to make up for the lost compression.

Did you do the test with the throttle body held in?

im not sure how long i was running with the knocking. It started about a year ago and since then i thought it was phantom knock and tuned the knock sensor down a little. So maybe a year of daily driving.

The motor has 80000 on it i bought it with 15000 miles on it and the compression was in spec but unfortunately i didnt get the numbers at the time.

I did test it with the tb held in. I will try it again while adding a capful of oil to each cylinder see if there is a difference.

The one thing i did notice when i did it is after cranking the engine a few times i heard a loud POP once each time i did the test. Sounded like fulling a bag with are and popping it. is that anythign significant?

and if cyl1 is closest to the timing belt then i mixed up the order and this is what it would look like
cyl 4 135
cyl 3 132
cyl2 136
cyl1 128

Thats cause your car has fuel in the exhaust. Remember I told you that you were running pig rich? your afr's are so rich 10.0's. wouldnt worry about the pop stuff when just doin a comp test.

cyl 1 gets the most abuse, so that would make more sense.

well in the Op's defense, some of it was phantom knock.

yea tom really really helped me out. We went through about 30 different tunes before we got everything squared away. The plugs were fouled mostly from the car running overly rich for too long with a boost leak... every WOT i was maxing out my stock injectors..

My car still has a phantom knock that is still being looked at..but i think its a noisy valvetrain and/or something rattling around in my trans...

Just to note toms been great with helping me with my car..when we couldnt get rid of the knock he didnt just leave me high and dry...he would IM me and give me new tunes when i wasnt even asking for me...great customer service!!!
