Ok so I changed my mind, Im going with the 2.1 build. I decided since they are suppose to have a better longevity and I like the idea of being able to rev it higher which gives me more options on always upgrading to a bigger turbo and having more room to rev.

The only way on earth I would ever run the 2.0 on a dd is if it was stock and I didn't want to mess with it. Then I would run it with an FP red and be done with it.

If anyone has ever drove or rode in a LR2.4 they would never want anything different. I can rev my LR2.4 to 8800 without fear of problems and that is plently of revs for any turbo. I just don't believe that anyone that drives their car on the street would be happier with anything other than a LR2.4. If you were just a drag racer and at the track every weekend then maybe a LR2.1, however their are a number of 2.3/2.4 drag motors and most of them run better times than the 2.0 or 2.1. Kevin and Marco are huge examples of what a 2.3 or 2.4 are capable of and they just have the std 150mm rod motors, we are now builidng 156mm rod motors that can rev higher/safer!!! Just food for thought.
A TS 2.3/2.4 with 1000hp will be faster than a 2.0/2.1 open scroll with 1000hp, even a TS vs. TS for that matter. You can' t beat the LR2.4 in anything but revs and reving above 9k is not needed anyway. You have to remember that a 2.4 flows 20% more airflow than a 2.0 at any given rpms (equaling more hp & tq everywhere) and 9000rpm on a LR2.4 is close to the same usable powerband at the same turbo on a 2.0 at 9400rpm. That is something that most people don't understand.
Getting off my soap box!

Don't get me wrong the 2.4's are a beast of a motor. I like the 2.4 but I decided to go with the 2.1 because they have a better rod ratio which in theory would mean that they are more reliable for longevity. I love the torque of the 2.4 but I like the 2.1's broad powerband. For my current Red turbo setup, the 2.4 would be perfect but eventually I might decide to go with a bigger turbo such as a 6262 or a 6765 or even bigger and with a 2.4 the ability to rev high enough to get that turbo's max efficiency isn't practicle. Yeah, you can rev a 2.4 high as in 8,500 rpm. Some have even pushed them into the 9k range and up but no matter how good they are built, if you make a habbit of turning them that high they will most likely sooner than later let go.

so it has been almost a year now since the last post in this thread just wondering if the 2.4LR motor is still favourable over the 2.1? I currently have a 6262 on my car and wondering if anyone is running that turbo on their 2.4LR or 2.1 motor and what kind of times you guys are making.

I've got a MAP stage 2 2.1l in my Evo. Can't really comment on it too much as I just finished putting the first 1k miles on it with a stock turbo. My 05 threw a rod as well running a red on E85 last October...kinda ironic. Its taken me a good 10 months to get the car back together and get the break in done, I don't have much time to drive it or work on it. It's currently apart due to a bad oil pump shaft seal. I'm going to go with a 6765 or 6262, haven't decided which yet, should be ordering the turbo and necessary parts in the next month or so. I'll post back in this thread when I have more to contribute

I went with a 2.4 and would never go with anything different. Awesome street car that did EVERYTHING I would want in a 4 cyl engine. Lots of torque, lots of power, and spun it to 8,500 with no issues. How high do you want to spin a street car?
