this could be a quick post but I wanted to get an idea of what a used shortblock is worth off a 9?

I am going to be putting in a 2.4 soon and a buddy came to me with a blown block and wants to buy mine off me.

im not entirely sure what kind of price to put on it so..

basic shortblock minus any pullies, water pump, oil pump, oil pan
im basically giving him the block, and everything inside it as one piece assembled. engine was just refreshed by english racing and has a new set of rod bearings acl I believe and main bearings checked out fine. no wear on crank. compression test by me was within seriously 3psi of each cylinder and leakdown was very minimal and within spec but I don't recall exact percent. car has 46k miles on it and made good power and torque. always mobil 1 and every 3k miles.

I was thinking in the neighborhood of 1800 but I don't have too much to go off of. I saw on dsmgraveyard.com that the block itself is 1600 and the crank is another 800 pls shipping....

so what do u guys think? im meeting with him tomorrow to discuss it.

id say no more then a $1000 for the short block but then again if he needs it you could also charge more lol

 

I would say anywhere from $600-$800 for the block and $250-$350 for the crank and with the squirters, pistons, rods, about another $200 so all together $1050-$1350...ish
