Is a cat delete pipe even worth it?
I am debating weather or not I want to get a cat delete pipe. Currently I am planning on a 3 inch exhaust and downpipe but I have heard that the cat delete pipes yield almost no power gains and on top of that can make your car run very crappy. Is it worth paying around $150 for a cat delete pipe or should I just stick with my stock cat and go with a 3 inch cat back and downpipe? Anyone got a cat delete and care to comment on how they like it or dislike it?
Thanks
Chris

No from what I hear the stock cat is very high flowing unlike other DSM models. I have heard there is hardly any difference in removing the cat at all but I would like to hear more peoples thoughts.
just take the stock off and you will be like holy sh*t this thing is heavy, pick up the 3" cat delete, and its not 150 more like 75, and just smile. Its worth it except I can smell it sometimes.
Yeah, with cat delete you do feel more power, but many times I almost put my stock one back because of the damn smell. I tried not installing the O2 simulator, but my CEL came on. After that, I installed it, works fine now. I'm at 50/50 with the cat delete.

I thought I read on here removing the Cat yielded ~ 5WHP? Personally, FOR ME, it seems silly to have your car smell like crap, make everyone else breathe it in and possibly getting a hefty fine (I hear $10,000 in Califirnia) for that small of a gain. Another option is to go for a High Flow Cat, which yields nearly the same gains of going catless. Search for Silver Surfer's posts as he did some tests awhile back. In the end its your call though, so good luck!
I had a cat delete on for about 2 days... the smell was just too much. I just didn't want all the people who are driving behind me to be in that much pain as I was standing behind the car. I say stay with the stock cat or a high flow. Probably just stock cat, can't be more than a 5hp difference between stock and highflow.
