First of all, you need to positively identify the smoke. It's easy to differentiate oil from coolant from gasoline.

If it were valve seals, you'd typically see a good puff of oil smoke from the exhaust if you let the car sit overnight, then start it.

A leakdown test exposes far more issues than does a compression test, so despite the fact that one cylinder is down 10%, don't expect that a compression test will necessarily expose the condition.

Well, unless there is someone in the trunk who smokes a blunt and exhales every time you let off the pedal, I'd say you probably have a HG issue. First, identify the smoke, then try a leakdown test. The number of ways a squirt of coolant can get into the engine upon vacuum are finite.

I had exact same thing happening before it was stock turbo going out. I drove like that for little while till it went out. Check shaft play and how it spins.. GL

ok, it still sounds like head gasket then. whatever it is, when you find out let us know. So if it happens to someone else it can save them the headache of trouble shooting it.

i found this on a honda forum...

does it happen on deceleration, acceleration or just when you take it our of gear?
Generally blue smoke under acceleration is worn rings, smoke under deceleration (let up on the gas while in gear) is valve guides. and smoke when you take i out of gear just means nothing good...
blue smoke = oil
white smoke = coolant
black smoke = fuel Read more at http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread...ktrack=kcplink

i'm gonna go ahead and say my valve guides are leaking like i stated in an earlier posts...still trippin me out the because i went over 600miles and the oil still on the full mark

Re: bluish white smoke from exhaust (SIK IN DA HED)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't forget to check your oil return line. If it has become kinked for some reason the oil won't drain properly into the pan. Then it'll back up in the turbo, eventually leaking out the seals into the exhaust housing, causing bluish white smoke to exit the tailpipe.

something else for me to check in the morning

I personally think you have a worn valve guides, or a bad valve seal under deceleration will cause these results. White smoke = coolant which makes it lean towards head gasket also. Lol. G/l

I had the same issue and I took care of it by installing an oil catch can. Just my .02. Good luck!
