I ported my exhaust manifold, port matched it to the head,turbo,02 housing. Matched all parts to the gasket size. Even matched the head ports. No noticable difference. Probably gained about 10 hp. Not worth the hassle. you cant feel 10 hp on a 350+ hp car. The stock setup is great from the get go. 10 hp can be gained by 1/2 psi more boost

It might not make a big difference now, but when I start getting to the max capacity of ther stock turbo, every extra CFM will help.
Did you dyno before and after on your Port job? I'd bet it's more than 10hp, unless you disrupted the flow somehow. It should also spool up faster. Plus it's some cool stuff to do and say you did it your self.

HOLD ON GUYS!

DO not port match the exhaust manifold to the gasket to the head. The gasket is WAY to large and will kill it.

The rest of the parts you can port match but to be honest it isn't like the old 1g &2g DSM's there is very little if any to be gained there. The old DSM stuff was a wreck. We do the port work here every day by the truck load. We do all the exhaust components and our own cylinder heads in house.

Please do yourself and favor, don't port match the head side of the exhaust manifold to the factory gasket, it is too big.

Thanks alot Dave!
I was planning on doing it tomorrow. I still plan on cleaning it up, (flash, etc..).
I noticed that there was alot of carbon (space between port and gasket) on both the head and exh manifold, almost an 1/8" all the way around, seemed excessive.

I've done the turbo side of the O2 housing. Pretty staightforward. I focused most of the work on the wastegate side, on the short (bottom) side, rounding and smoothing. The other side, I just removed the flash and port matched. I post pics when finished.

Bishiboy,

I've ported plenty of stuff with a foot-operated, flexible cable setup, using a carbide burr - best ones look like an elongates pear, with the small end away from you, of course. Wear earphones and glasses. Have fun. Your pics have me psyched to do it myself this winter. Have you seen the Air Power Systems exhaust manifold? If you lay eyes on it, you'll never touch the stock one. I've tried to talk them out of a group of them, but they're still in "testing". Too bad, because they're real pretty, and I'll bet from looking at them that they work way better than the stock Evo one. Let's bury the APS guys (Aussies) with exhaust manifold requests.

Rob
