WG flutter...(video)
It could be a horrid feedback oscillation if you didn't change anything in the tune. I HIGHLY doubt if you're seeing smooth build and hold that the gate is smacking open and shut.
gosh, seems like most of ppl have mixed up the surge or bov flutter with wastegate flutter/chatter.
op, i have experienced the same thing with my sti before.
according to my tuner, it's the spring in the wastegate causes this problem. i had .8 bar spring in my wastegate when my target boost pressure was set at 25psi.
there are tons of thread on nasioc in term of this problem.
to fix this problem, i went to my car and pulled out the rom image via ecuflash. opened the rom, clicked the turbo dynamics section, opened both tables of turbo dynamics burst and turbo dynamics continuous . and then divided all the value in the table(wastegate duty correction %) by 2, saved it flashed to the ecu. problem solved.
it worked with some of guys that had this problem, but some other guys couldn't fixed this by doing the method described above due to the inappropriate spring rate in the wastegate.
hope that helps

Ok I'll look into it and might try it out. Thanks you for the educated reply an possible solution.
I'm running 30psi an don't think the stock solenoid will be able to handle that, plus I'll be upping the boost eventually
Simple test, lower the target WDC and disable the feedback in the boost control section.
If it continues to do it, then its possibly related to the frequency the solenoid is being ran at. If it goes away, it's just your feedback settings.
This is provided it is actually the solenoid causing the problem.
If you are running the stock feedback table, I bet it is the problem.

My main laptop broke..so once I have ecu flash and evoscan on a different laptop I'll try that out first. Would you mind of I pm you in a few days when I try this if I have any questions?
So been reading on the Subaru forums and seems a lot of people experience this with the Grimmspeed BCS. They simply swap it to something else but I'd rather not, this one works perfect except for the annoying flutter.
You didn't post about it in every gear, just two short rips in first and second where it sounded horrid as boost hit then smoothed out before you shifted. I would be interested in seeing a longer 3rd or 4th gear pull.

I let off in second early because my radar went off. Close call lol
I'll post another quick 10 second video where you can really hear it flutter.
It was doing it before pretty bad, I thought it was just my crappy tune so I turned the boost down. Today I went out and got the timing sorted out a bit, turned the boost back up to 26 psi, and it's doing it again. Grrr...
No, sorry bud. My new laptop comes in in a few days so once get that and install ecuflash I'll be able to give it a go.
Try those steps above posted by 03whitegsr and zac5 and see if they help. Post back f it does!

i have a gruppe-s 3port and it makes the same sound during spool. it is the wg fluttering... mine only does it 3rd gear 2500-3700rpm while its building boost. pretty sure its normal w/3ports
Here's a low speed third and fourth gear pull:
