Exclamation Trans help!

Hey guys just today I was driving and all of a sudden the shifter became very hard to move. It got to a point where I couldn't even get it into gear. I managed to limp the car home and search on the site. I have cleaned the underhood bushings and put anti-seize on them. I have also changed the tranny fluid to synchromesh. Suddenly everything went back to normal! The only problem I am having now is that the car will not go into reverse no matter what I do! When I removed the bushings I checked the cable for kinks and there were non present so that can't be it. Reverse was working just fine before this happend. Now all of a sudden it doesn't want to cooperate...any suggestions?

did you check the shifter linkage outside in the engine bay? when the shifter wouldn't move did it feel really loose like it was going to fall off?

sorry if im asking things you said you've already done, but did you take off the center console and check for linkage issues?

You know when I was cleaning the bushings I did move the lower most linkage but I don't think I "snapped" it correctly into its place. The shifter was really stiff and when I drained my transmission fluid it was all gunk. This was the first time I tried Amsoil transmission fluid and it was worse than the Pennzoil synchromesh. I have pennzoil in it now and everything is working properly except for reverse. I did take the center console apart but I didn't have any luck there either.

It doesn't do anything actually. I have tried warming the car up...shifting from 1st to 3rd...4th to reverse...5th to reverse but nothing helps. It just completely blocks me out. It was working perfectly fine until this incident happened.

then one of your linkages isnt working properly. remove the center console again and mess with it off.. something is blocking your shifter linkage from sliding to the right. aftermarket shifter? i had issues with my perrin short shifter, but i doubt it was what you're experiencing.

No sir I do not have an aftermarket shifter. I will check the linkage again once I get home from work. Thank you!

Hmmm...what kind do you have? I have been debating it but I hear it changes the positioning of the linkage due to the shorter throw if that makes any sense.

perrin short shifter. the evo has a long throw with stock shifter, mine isnt bad. all you have to do is check your talon and compare for reference

Haha...I remember putting a short throw on the talon a while back and I hated it. It is probably due to the part though because I went cheap and bought an EBAY one...

Well I have checked everything and I found out that my clutch is slipping bad and reverse gear does not want to go in no matter what. I think this is an internal problem...for the second time....ugh!

How did you adjust your clutch when you put the last clutch in? PM me for details on a few things.
