just installed cams and....

HKS 264/272 cams installed and I noticed after 4k rpm something sounds different. First I noticed some dash noise nothing serious, but then WOT to 4k then the engine sounds droney runs strong but sounds definetely different, first time I switch from stock cams. Has anyone experienced this after 3,800 or 4,000 rpms?? I dont know if its normal..

Sounds like belt is tight and possibly the balance shaft timing is also incorrect.

I dont hear any whining that indicates the belt might be tight. But I dont know whats going on, I just drove it for a bit and noticed alot of vibration 3500+ rpm from the engine bay even the dash and gear shifter. Im taking it back to the shop to check it out. Also, sometimes the rpm will jump to 1100 and stay for a few seconds does that mean the belt is too tight??

I can almost definitely say this was caused by your balance shafts being out of time....
I've seen this happen on DSM's and it sounds terrible. Get it checked out QUICK.

Balance shafts out of time could def cause ur concern. Keep in mind with bigger cams the engine with have a bit of a different tone to it.

Yeah that's true. I was concerned about the vibration he was talking about in the 3500-4000rpm range

I got a slight vibration after 4k after installing my S2's if i free rev it, but while driving its smooth up there,

I read somewhere you will know if the balance shaft is wrong as it shakes and vibrates even when in gear, so ive put mine down to extra vibrations from cams, ive been running the cams for about 6 months now with no dramas

if there is a problem, whoever tuned it should have noticed it, I would ask them.

Ok I'm at the shop my mech checked all timing marks and they were spot on! He said the only thing left that would cause the problem is the cam. I bought them used and they looked fine I don't know if cams were bad they cause vibration??? Can anyone confirm this? My only solution is putting the stock cams back on.
