I have an FP Black and had issues.
Yes, I was running Mobil One 10W-30 (this was prior to FP's announcement about which oil was approved for their stock appearing turbo's).
The Black was causing a ton of blue smoke to come out of my exhaust. The problem was that it was not immediately apparent that the turbo was the issue. I still had ample power, and it ran fine. It took another 200 miles before the play in the compressor wheel was noticeable. At this point I roughly had 1400~ miles on the turbo.
I called FP and they told me to send in the Turbo with the oil feed line + the paperwork. I paid for shipping down there, they paid for the repair in full + the shipping back to me.
It took about 5 or 6 weeks for the turbo to come back to me. They replaced the compressor wheel and hotside wheel + the thrust bearings. They buffed the compressor housing internally and said it was fine. It seems the hotside wheel has been slightly modified compared to the original one I had when I bought the Turbo a year ago. The clearances also seems tighter. The compressor does not spin as freely as it used too. It's still in the box because I am building the engine and head over the winter.

Ty for everyone's responses. It has helped alot in making my decision easier on what I am going to buy when the time comes. At this time I'm not gonna jump into a new turbo quite yet. I want to get some other supporting modifications completed this winter so I can take advantage of the new found power when I do change it. At this point I'm looking at ID1000's, an aeromotive FPR, aeromotive 340LPH fuel pump, a retune, a clutch rebuild kit, arp extended wheel studs spacers and some slicks for the gram lights I have....maybe take another shot at the stock turbo pump has record.
