Bushwacker trans hard to go into reverse, anyone else got this problem?

Arrow Bushwacker trans hard to go into reverse, anyone else got this problem?

Anybody else with a Bushwacker trans that is extremely hard to go into reverse?
It will go but not very easy. Trans has less than 3k miles on the build. I just bought the car so I don't know how it was when it was first installed. I am NOT talking bad about bushwacker at all, but just wondering if this is a common thing (or for a stock trans for that matter) like an adjustment or something I can check.

Try going to 1st gear first then reverse. It lines up your syncros.

+1... I had a similar issue with my stock transmission after replacing the bushings (with solid) and found you can adjust the shift mechanism (under the hood) to help with this issue.

My normal force of habit is to put it in 1st then reverse but it doesnt really help enough.

What mechanism did you adjust? you mean on the cable end of the trans or shifter?

My luck its something wrong in the trans

Why don't you give Buschur Racing a call? That's probably going to be the best thing to do since they know the tranny inside and out.

what clutch are u using? exedy twins can cause this issue especialy when going into 1st or reverse.

It's got an Exedy triple disc, but goes into 1st gear and all the other gears fine. It literally feels like your trying to put the shifter into a brickwall, but if you pull it back hard enough then it will finally go in. If I do it with the engine off it goes in pretty normal so I wouldnt be surprised if it was clutch related but is pretty annoying

Sounds like the clutch is dragging.

But then wouldnt it do the same thing in 1st gear? since 1st and reverse is the main gears that really need the clutch since the cars not in motion

I too would like to know what mechanism... I just got my Bushwacker about 2 or 3 weeks ago. It shifted perfect until I installed my BR under hood solid shifter bushings. Now it's a bit mushy going into 5th and hard going into reverse.

OP - Do you have solid bushings or the stock rubber ones?

I had this happen to me with the stock clutch. I got air in the system when performing a bleed. I thought I had bled all the air out but afterwards it still didn't like going in reverse. I ended up doing yet another bleed(3rd time) ... and even though I didn't see any air released the third bleed did correct the problem.

Just got the car so not sure on the whole history....I'll check tomorrow on the bushings and to see if theres anything I can do with the cable for reverse without affecting 5th too much
