If you check Dyno Thread section STM has produced some awsome Street Evo's making 500HP + stock Block on 35R set-ups

For your power goals to be honest the 35R, as awsome as it is, sounds like overkill - if I was forced to reccomend you a budget T3/T4 frame turbo then it would be a Garrett 50Trim ball bearing... Blouch has them brand new for like $1000

Hi Sal,
can you help me to pick which turbine housing 0.63 or 0.82 turbine housing should i go as for the best non laggy and better power through out the power band?

Is this a oil and water cool turbo?

Lastly, do i really need to avoid the Precision turbo which ive stated earlier? Is precision turbo not a reliable turbo?

The reason i ask for precision is because 1) Its within my budget (below $1,100) 2) I know JC from Real Street Performance who i can trust and easily purchase thru online.

Thanks

Hi Jameswwt, since you mention you want great response and minimal lag, and it seems you´re looking for cost effective solutions, you should probably consider staying with a stock frame turbo like the ones mentioned (HTA green, BBK Full, HKS 7260) as these turbos will most likely meet your power expectations and will have better response compared to an open T3 or T4 frame turbo.

Garret ball bearing turbos like the standard GT35R work with water and oil lines, but require a restrictor for the oil line. Also if you go to a open T3 or T4 turbo you will have to get an exhaust manifold suited for these turbos, an external wastegate, and probably some intake modifications at least.

My advise would be to research very well all the supporting mods you will require before making your choice.

Good luck,

Ricardo

The best three options are - FP HTA Green, BBK Full, and new HKS bb turbo. I like the HTA Green over the BBK Full, but I like the fact the HKS uses a ball bearing setup. The HTA Green will have the most top end of the three turbos listed and has great street manners (transient response, spool, and power).

Fp Black, you will hit your power goals and then in a couple months when you want to squeeze a bit more power out of her, you can. It's a good all around turbo too. It will accommodate whatever kind of driving/racing your into.

??? Did you read his post ?? - specifically his goals of power and spool ??

As others that know have said - get the HTA Green. If you want 500+ hp but more lag, then go Black....

Ok so seems that I might be the only person getting what your saying...

Your looking for the best bang for the buck turbo you can get...

Your already running external wastegate...

Stock frame FP reds, Green HTA, Blacks etc are gona set you back almost $2000

You want similar performance for at least about half that cost.

Hope I'm understanding you correctly - your on a T3 budget, not an HTA one...

Ok

Q1 = T3 .63 - I woundnt go bigger than that for your setup

The Garrett Dual Steel Ball Bearing T3/T4 turbo's are Oil and Water Cooled and the reliability on them is better than precision...

Q2 = If you really really want a Precision get the Billet 5557 its air cooled ceramic ball bearing not water cooled - RSP will give you a great deal...

t3/t4 he is going to get then a person with a hta green will beat him the best spool is going to be had by the stock frame turbos. If you want a spooling monster then this is the department you should focus on getting even if it will cost you 600 more bones you will thank everybody later.

I missed this "11) Exhaust manifold with Turbosmart 38mm wastegate", so what exhaust manifold and turbo are you running now?

No Problem James, You can try ATP Turbo:

Ok a .63 T3 Turbo wont bolt onto that manifold its flanged for a Stock Frame Turbo...

You get an aftermarket adaptor from ATP that retains TS and convers to TS T3 but needs two 44mm wastegates to work. (so cost just goes up)

These guys are the cheapest on ebay for garrett Turbos:

Thanks Sal and if you ever visit Malaysia i'll buy you dinner.
Sal,since you have recommend me Garrett Ball Bearing T3/T4E 50 Trim Compressor, can you also advise me on the turbine housing selection?

I know you have ask me to go for 0.63 trim but which housing will be more easier to use (in term of manifold & wastegate matching)?

Can i use Anti Surge housing?

Lastly, will a GT3076R better in term of response?

Regards,
James

Green, full or lite are all good proven turbos. The lite might be toughest to tune because it goes full boost in about 0.2 seconds.

Keep in mind the lite/full requires no change in oil lines, just use the old stock stuff and not worry about plumbing new oil delivery.

You will also have to get a IX compressor outlet pipe for any of these so it will fit around the starter. I just modified my starter terminal and used the old VIII pipe.

Haha, will look you up when next I'm in Malaysia...

Like the guys have said for the manifold you have a Stock Frame Turbo like and FP green will bolt on and meet your power goals...

But on your $1100 budget for a Ball Bearing, Water and Oil cooled Turbo I think the 50 Trim will give the best balance of power and spool for a T3 framed turbo...

GT3076R will spool later; GT3071R will spool much better than a 3076 but will be limited to about 450hp...

The Default T31 4 bolt outlet GT Style housing will do the job:

http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant...Category_Code=

I take it welding and fab work is more affordable over there like it is here in SA, you need:
T3 Flanged Manfold
Modify Downpipe for the T31 4bolt outlet
Dump Tube for your 38mm Wastegate

Antisurge Compressor cover not a bad idea if you can afford it

Only other option to retain your current manifold and get decent spool on a budget is to go with the 3071 with the much hated ATP style housing which bolts to stock manifold...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GARRE...Q5fAccessories

ps. prepare to be flamed - guys on here will hate you for this - housing design is not great, cant match stock frame turbos for spool, only one that spools half decent is the: GT3071R _63AR but bang for the buck (ball bearing) it is...
